The 10 best GEO tools in 2026
GEO tools, also called AI visibility tools, measure whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity mention your brand, and help you do something about it. The category barely existed two years ago; it now has a unicorn, two major acquisitions and dozens of vendors. Full disclosure: Opinion Radar, our own product, is on this list. To keep the comparison useful, we start with the criteria that separate serious measurement from screenshots, and every vendor fact below was checked on the vendor's own pages on September 15, 2026.
What is a GEO tool?
A GEO tool (Generative Engine Optimization), also called an AI visibility tool, measures whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews mention your brand when buyers ask for recommendations, and helps you improve that presence. It is to AI answers what rank tracking is to search results.
The category barely existed in 2024. In 2026 it got its first unicorn when Profound raised $96M at a $1B valuation in February; Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush in April, and Sitecore acquired Scrunch in June. If you are new to the topic, start with our guide on how to get ChatGPT to recommend your business.
What a serious GEO tool must do
- Query several model families. ChatGPT alone is not "AI visibility": models genuinely disagree. In our July 2026 database measurement, five of six model families most often put PostgreSQL first, while Claude most often championed CockroachDB. One-model tools miss the dissent.
- Repeat each question. Assistants are non-deterministic: the same prompt yields different answers on different runs. A tool that asks once reports noise. Look for sampling: rates computed over repeated runs, ideally with the sample size shown.
- Measure spontaneous mentions. "What do you think of brand X?" measures nothing: the model politely discusses whatever you name. The real question is whether the AI brings you up unprompted when a buyer describes their need.
- Show the sources behind the answers. When assistants search the web, they cite pages. Knowing which ones (review sites, listicles, Reddit threads, your own site) tells you where to act.
- Let you verify every number. A share-of-voice figure you cannot drill down to raw answers is a figure you cannot defend to your board, or debug.
- Lead to action, and track it over time. Dashboards describe; the point is to know what to fix first, then re-measure. AI answers move with model updates: one audit is a snapshot, not a trend.
The 10 best GEO tools in 2026
We selected ten tools that cover the market's main approaches: enterprise platforms, AI visibility specialists, products from SEO suites and entry-level trackers. Our own product comes first: that is a disclosure, not a score. The others follow no ranking, as each one is best for a different team. Every price, plan and coverage claim below was checked on the vendor's own pages on September 15, 2026; where a vendor publishes no price, we say so rather than repeat third-party estimates. "AI engines covered" lists every engine a tool can track, including paid add-ons; what the entry plan includes is specified underneath.
Opinion Radar
Measurement-first AI visibility: verifiable numbers, cited sources and an action plan
That's us: judge accordingly.
- Best for
- Teams that need defensible numbers and a prioritized to-do list, in English or French
- AI engines covered
- ChatGPTClaudeGeminiLe Chat (Mistral)DeepSeekGrok
- Entry price
- $45/mo · Starter, billed monthly ($36/mo billed yearly) · no free plan Checked on September 15, 2026
Opinion Radar asks realistic buyer questions, never naming your brand, to six AI model families, several times each, then reads every answer systematically: spontaneous mentions, the arguments behind each recommendation, tone, factual errors and the competitors named in your place. Every figure drills down to the raw answers behind it.
What it measures
- Presence and share of voice by buyer situation and by model, compared with the competitors you track, plus the ones the AIs name that you did not list.
- Why you win or lose: the arguments, criticisms and tone attached to each mention.
- Factual errors: what the AIs say about you, checked against your own website.
Beyond the dashboard
- An action plan: each weak spot is diagnosed (absent, outranked, criticized…) and matched with levers backed by evidence; tactics refuted by research, such as llms.txt, are flagged as such.
- A source map of the pages models cite when they search the web (Pro and Business plans).
- A crawlability audit of your site for AI crawlers, and re-measurement on the same questions to see what moved.
Pricing
Starter costs $45/month ($36/month billed yearly) for 2 brands, 25 tracked prompts per brand and 2 measurements a month; Pro is $149/month and Business $349/month. There is no free plan: our public observatories are real measurements you can inspect first, and the method is documented here. See all plans.
Strengths
- Six model families, repeated sampling, and every number traceable to the raw answers
- Goes past tracking: action plan, cited-source map, site audit and fact-checking
- Bilingual product and reports (English and French)
Limitations
- Queries models through their APIs: Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and Copilot are not covered
- No free plan or trial
- Source map reserved to the Pro and Business plans

How to choose a GEO tool
- Start from the decision you need to make. If the question is "do AIs recommend us, and what do we do about it?", you need spontaneous-mention measurement, cited-source analysis and an action plan. If the question is "add an AI line to our SEO report", a module from your SEO suite may be enough.
- Check what the entry price actually includes. Prompts, engines, projects and countries vary widely: 15 prompts on one entry plan, 350 on another; Claude or Gemini included by some vendors, sold as add-ons by others.
- Match coverage to where your buyers ask. If your audience searches on Google, AI Overviews and AI Mode coverage matters; if they research in chat assistants, check ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and the others they actually use.
- Ask every vendor the sampling question. How many times is each question asked, on how many models, and can you see the raw answers behind a figure? Vague answers here predict vague numbers later.
- Test the tool on a market you know. Run it where you already know the ground truth: if the output surprises you in ways you cannot verify, that is the tool telling you something.
Whichever tool you pick: measure before you optimize, and re-measure after you act. You can see what serious measurement looks like in our public observatories, including which database AIs recommend and whether AI assistants recommend themselves.
FAQ
- What is a GEO tool?
- A GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) tool, also called an AI visibility tool, measures whether and how AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity mention a brand in their answers: share of voice, sentiment, cited sources and the competitors named instead. The better ones also tell you what to change.
- What is the difference between a GEO tool and an SEO tool?
- An SEO tool tracks rankings in a list of links. A GEO tool tracks presence inside a generated answer, which varies from one model to another and from one run to the next. Several SEO suites, such as Semrush, Ahrefs and SE Ranking, now sell AI visibility products alongside their rank trackers.
- How much does a GEO tool cost?
- Public entry prices checked on September 15, 2026 range from $29/month (Otterly.AI Lite, 15 prompts) to $300/month (Scrunch Starter, month-to-month), while enterprise platforms such as Profound and Evertune are quoted on request. Compare what the entry price includes: number of prompts, engines, and whether key engines are paid add-ons.
- Why does sampling matter in AI visibility measurement?
- Assistants are non-deterministic: the same question can yield different answers. A single run tells you almost nothing. Reliable tools ask each question several times per model and report rates across the sample, not one-off screenshots.
- Are GEO tools worth it for small businesses?
- If AI assistants influence purchases in your category, knowing whether they recommend you, or a competitor, is worth at least one measurement. Start with a one-off audit or an entry plan before committing to continuous monitoring.
What about your brand?
Measure what ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and the others actually answer about your market — before deciding where to invest.
